occupational therapy and supported employment for people with autism
This service is provided by the asepac Association, one of the organisations that make up the Autisme la Garriga Project.
Its purpose is to provide people with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD), with a job, which is as normal as possible, and which is tailored to their needs and capacities in order to improve their quality of life.
The TERLAB occupational therapy centre began operating in 1987 with the purpose of responding to the needs of adolescents and adults with autism spectrum disorders. The centre can take up to 40 people.
The objective of TERLAB is to provide these people with therapeutic treatments that are suited to their needs and with a job that is within their possibilities.
Its methodology is based on:
Supported employment
- An individual plan of support and reinforcement
- Division of the activities into basic tasks (task analysis)
- Activities of moderate duration
- Removal of hazardous activities and tools
- Alternation of activities (sedentary-active, indoor-outdoor) and spaces
- Functional analysis of behaviour
