autism
Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are chronic, neurodevelopmental disorders, which are usually detected during the first 30 months of life.
There are three main symptoms:
- communication disorders,
- impaired social skills and imagination,
- highly restricted interests and activities.
In addition, there are often abnormal behaviours such as swinging and obsessions with certain objects or events.
The level of intelligence of the people affected is very variable but the majority (75%) have a mental deficiency of some degree. Most of this population requires a great deal of help throughout their lives. ASD (autism spectrum disorders) affect approximately 6 in every 1000 births and is much more common in males than in females (4:1)
